primitiveradiogoddess: (Then I'd be your harmony)

I HAVE TWO JOBS NOW AND IT'S REALLY NICE I have my once-a-week job cleaning the nail spa and a full time job at my local McDonalds. Can't say it's the best job in the world given the weird hours I have to sleep nowadays but it's paying for itself! With my most recent paycheck I was able to get birthday presents and a brand new laptop! Of course I did all this shopping during the madness otherwise known as Black Thursday/Friday, but I got a hell of a bargain on it considering it's an A10 with over a terabyte of space on it. Xbox360's were also on sale for $100, and Blu-Rays for 3-6 dollars. So while I'm still settling in on it and downloading all the music that didn't make it on due to some encryption error, here's a media post.

TV Shows/Movies:

Bee and PuppyCat

I've probably watched this at least ten times already. It's got fantastic visuals, really good dialogue, and it's positively hilarious. You can find it on Youtube under the channel CartoonHangover, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Imagine Alice in Wonderland taking place in an environment mirroring that of the city of Kyoto, and Alice wields a giant hammer and has the power to destroy the universe, and with a bunch of references to Buddhism and Japanese folklore. That's Kyousogiga. It's along the lines of Uchouten Kazoku but it tells it's story out of order. The original ONA was released in 2011, and now it's finally got a ten episode anime. Be sure to catch up on it as soon as you can!

For Halloween I watched this gore-fest of a horror anime. This anime tells the story of a class under a curse, which slowly takes the life of a student and/or a family member each month when a student that's supposed to be dead comes back from the grave to attend class. It's quite intense with some very interesting plot twists, although the deaths towards the end get a little ridiculous. It's about twelve episodes long, and not for the faint of heart and those who can't stand over-the-top deaths and blood. I still enjoyed it, regardless.

Kyoukai no Kanata

Pretty damn good worldbuilding, gorgeous visuals, a fantastic cast of female characters, and really good potential, all to be wasted on focusing on really gross glasses fetishes, sexist main guys, and a boring plot. YMMV on this on.

Steven Universe

Three ladies with fantastic powers, varying ethnicies and body-types that protect humanity and the universe with the power of their Gems also have to juggle raising a kid named Steven, a kid who means well and wants to do good and has rather creative ways of solving a problem. I'm so glad this is a thing and everyone should watch it because it's definitely one of the most charming shows I've watched in a while. It doesn't rely on fat jokes or fart jokes and has a great way of handling humor, the personalities of the cast are varying and all very different, and did I mention that it has three awesome ladies who kick butt and save the universe on a regular basis?

Kill la Kill

This is more or less the lovechild of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt. The first couple of episodes left me with mixed feelings. For starters, the animation and plot was gorgeous and so was the world-building, sadly the main character was the butt of a lot of sexual harrassment jokes. But much, much further in that ceases to be a thing, the characters grow immensely and the plot continues to be engaging, the main villain has some really fascinating and somewhat morally gray motives, and her underlings are even shown to be decent people in some cases. This is another YMMV, but I'm far more hooked on it than I am Kyoukai No Kanata.

Video Games:

Pikmin 3

I got my brother a WiiU for his birthday, the Wind Waker HD edition, and upon getting it the first thing he did was go to Gamestop and pick up a copy of Pikmin 3. For a realtime strategy game it's awfully soothing and quite fun. This time around, the story revolves around three new characters, a captain, an engineer, and a botanist who have gone to the Pikmin world seeking fruit to save their starving populace. The graphics are incredible, the environments gorgeous, the puzzles a blast to solve, and the Pikmin just as a adorable and slightly creepy as they have always been.

Pokmeon X

With all new 3D gameplay this new generation Pokemon game featuring tons of minigames, the World-Trade option and the famed Poke-amie, is not to be missed. The music is gorgeous, the Pokemon criminal group are the FUCKING FASHION POLICE and, surprisingly, I only had to catch one Pokemon during my journey to eradicate the Elite Four. I'll make a bigger post documenting my experience later.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf

This is hella fun and really relaxing and CUTE! Everyone else has probably played this by now, and I finally got a 3DS to see what all the fuss was about. It was definitely a positive experience for me.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

A direct sequel to A Link to the Past, even so far as to carrying some of it's elements over, including the general map structure of Hyrule, a Light world and a Dark world, and weathervanes. This time you can turn into a painting, which is actually a pretty fun puzzle solving mechanic in of itself. It's a bit disappointingly short, and you can solve the dungeons in nearly any order you like, but the plot twists towards the end, the new cast of characters, and the fantastic use of the 3D effect more than makes up for it!

For the Holiday seasons, in addition to working on individual presents, setting up a new fic blog, tentatively dipping my toe in the waters of new fandoms and trying new writing styles, I've completed a [community profile] fandom_stocking entry here. You should go fill it :)

And you should also make your own form so I can give you nice things for the holidays!
